Education Diversity Scholars Symposium: A Conversation on Technology and Access in Education
Start Date: 4/15/2014Start Time: 7:15 PM
End Date: 4/15/2014End Time: 8:15 PM
Event Description:

The School of Education's Education Diversity Scholars Program (EDS) National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Present…

A Conversation on Technology, Diversity, Equity, and Access in Education

What does it mean to live, learn, and teach in a community of learners with varying levels of access to technology?

Join the EDS, NCTE, and School of Education faculty for a discussion on the importance of addressing technology as a tool, not a solution, in the classroom.

A short presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion on:

* Current issues for students, teachers, parents, and policy-makers around access to technology in schools

* What equity looks like when calls for 21st century skills often overlook access to technology

* What the future holds for our increasingly diverse and tech-savvy students and schools

We invite all teacher education students, those interested in education, and anyone with an interest in equity and social justice to join us!

The event will also include information about applying to and entering the School of Education's teacher education program.

Tuesday, April 15th EDUC 231 7:15pm – 8:15pm
