Event Description
Don't Believe Everything you Read: Texts, Archaeology, and the Destruction of the Greek City of Corinth in 146 BC

Generations of scholars have relied heavily on ancient literary accounts of the Roman sack of Corinth in the mid-2nd century BC to interpret archaeological remains in the city. New archaeological evidence offers numerous challenges to both ancient descriptions and modern interpretations and shows how many Corinthians dealt with the aftermath of this well-known ancient destruction. This free lecture will be held in the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History Paleontology Hall.
