Creative Workshop: Insects as Art and Science with Environmental Artist and Teacher Jill Powers

Event Description:
Join environmental artist and teacher Jill Powers, as she shares her passion for using natural materials to create art that is inspired by nature.  At this free workshop participants will make their own unique, artistic and lifelike beetles, moths, dragonflies and more, while learning how insects interacts with their environment. Experience working with Powers' primary art material, a soft inner bark from Thailand, while spontaneously collaging in 3D, creating the body, wings and antennae of creative miniature sculptures. Powers' has shown her work internationally; it is also displayed in private, corporate, and museum collections. She is currently an instructor at Naropa University, and member of Women Environmental Artists. The workshop is free with all materials provided by the museum.
