| Monitoring and Protecting Groundwater during Oil and Gas Development |
|
Event Description Coloradans and their local governments are increasingly concerned about potential impacts of oil and gas development, including impacts on groundwater. The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) recently initiated a rule-making process to develop new, statewide regulations for baseline sampling and monitoring of groundwater near new oil and gas wells. This workshop will discuss oil and gas development procedures that can impact groundwater, the current rules that protect groundwater, those being proposed by the COGCC, and other options.
*What are potential impacts to groundwater?
* How can (and do) operators protect groundwater?
* What is the current law?
* What is the role of sampling/monitoring?
* What is COGCC’s proposed rule?
* What more do we need to know? |
