Event Description Greg Lastowka, a professor at Rutgers University Law School and author of “Virtual Justice: The New Laws of Online Worlds,” will discuss how real-world laws are being adapted to virtual worlds. As billions of dollars are exchanged in virtual worlds like Second Life and World of Warcraft, criminals are defrauding online communities. And as avatars lose virtual property to wrongdoers, people feel cheated and increasingly seek legal remedies. But what law assists people when their avatars are robbed? Lastowka will discuss how governments respond to cyberspace chaos and explore the laws of property, crime and copyright in virtual worlds. |
