Introduction to Colorado 14ers
Start Date: 9/21/2013Start Time: 6:30 AM
End Date: 9/21/2013End Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description:
The Student Veterans Association will lead a hike up Grays and Torreys
Peak.  The group will leave the trailhead around 6:30am and hike
directly to Grays peak.  It all Class 1 terrain (the easiest hiking) up
to Grays, but becomes Class 2 on the approach to Torreys.  So, those
that do not want to summit Torreys can return back down the trail to the
parking lot.  For both peaks, it's a total trip distance of 8.25 miles
with 3,600 ft of elevation gain; to summit Grays only, it's a 7.5 miles
roundtrip with a 3,000 ft elevation gain.  To reach the trailhead: take
I-70 to exit #221. Go left, drive about 1/4 mile and you'll run right
into the road leading to the trailhead (Forest Road 189.) Drive for 3
miles on this dirt road to reach the trailhead.  We recommend you plan
on leaving Boulder by 5:00am.  More information will be provided to
those interested.
