Event Description Robert Elias, president of the OREL Foundation, will join David Shneer, Director of CU's Program in Jewish Studies and Music Director Michael Christie for a pre-concert discussion. The OREL Foundation, founded by conductor James Conlon, is dedicated to the performance of suppressed works of the 20th century. This catered event is complimentary for Rediscovered Masters donors of $500 or more.
The 2012 Rediscovered Masters Program is a series of performances celebrating Jewish composers and their music. THe program emphasizes music composed before, during, and immediately after World War II. The music of many Jewish composers was suppressed, and subsequently forgotten. Music Director Michael Christie is committed to resurrecting these lost treasures and putting them in their rightful place in musical history. |
