The 2012 New Media Practitioners Professional Development Workshop will bring New Media journalists and communicators interested in space science to LASP for a two-day intensive workshop with experts in the field of lunar exploration. Sponsored by the Colorado Center for Lunar Dust and Atmospheric Studies (CCLDAS), the workshop will be a collaborative and educational opportunity for attendees to learn about the most up-to-date issues surrounding future exploration of the Moon and other small bodies in our Solar System.

As a nearly one-month-long school, it will comprehensively address new and emerging science and technology in the fields of photovoltaics and solar fuels. It will provide both a rich environment for students to delve into these interdisciplinary topics and a synergistic forum for leading researchers to interact in an in-depth and productive way.

The exhibit is inspired by the spectacular structure, colors and longevity of lichens and the fact that they are bio-monitors of pollution. With a 16’ video wall, photos, paintings, puzzles, sculpture, “smog collector" plates and more, the exhibit explores the effects that transportation choices have on Boulder’s air quality. The project has been created in collaboration with atmospheric scientists, emissions specialists, lichenologists, transportation professionals and middle school students, among others. This exhibit is commissioned by EcoArts Connections (EAC) and co-presented by the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History and EAC in collaboration with Envirotest - Air Care Colorado, Manhattan Middle School and Spark: UCAR Science Education. |

The exhibit is inspired by the spectacular structure, colors and longevity of lichens and the fact that they are bio-monitors of pollution. With a 16’ video wall, photos, paintings, puzzles, sculpture, “smog collector" plates and more, the exhibit explores the effects that transportation choices have on Boulder’s air quality. The project has been created in collaboration with atmospheric scientists, emissions specialists, lichenologists, transportation professionals and middle school students, among others. This exhibit is commissioned by EcoArts Connections (EAC) and co-presented by the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History and EAC in collaboration with Envirotest - Air Care Colorado, Manhattan Middle School and Spark: UCAR Science Education. |
