BioFrontiers Seminar: Jonathan Pritchard
Start Date: 4/9/2013Start Time: 4:00 PM
End Date: 4/9/2013End Time: 5:00 PM
Event Description
Jonathan Pritchard from the University of Chicago will be visiting campus Tuesday, April 9, 2013 to speak in the BioFrontiers Seminar Series at 4:00 in the Butcher Auditorium, JSCBB A115, on East Campus.  The title of his talk is “The structure and function of human genetic variation”.

Abstract:

In this talk I will describe work that we have done in two areas relating to human genetic variation.  I will describe our statistical work on using genetic data to study human population structure and history.  The second half of the talk will discuss our functional work on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which genetic variation impacts gene regulation.   This class of variation seems to be a major contributor to complex traits and, likely, to evolutionary change.
