Ecumenism in Tibet: Public Panel with Ringu Tulku

Event Description
In nineteenth-century in Tibet, a circle of Buddhist luminaries compiled eclectic collections of texts from a wide range of traditions in order to preserve their distinctive lineages. These collections have been crucial to preserving Tibet's unique tantric heritage in the diaspora. The panel's keynote speaker is Ringu Tulku, an expert in ecumenism in nineteenth-century Tibet and the author of The Ri-me Philosophy of Jamgon Kongtrul the Great. Sponsored by the Tsandra Foundation, Center for Asian Studies, Center for Humanities and the Arts, and the Department of Religious Studies.
