Webinar for faculty & staff: Understanding and Supporting International Students

Event Description:

Please note the change of venue.  Due to demand, we moved this to a larger room (Wolf Law, room 300).

This webinar is co-sponsored by the Office of International Education (OIE) and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement (ODECE).  It will broadly examine the key issues regarding international student enrollment in the US. Dr. Lee will present the latest research on the major academic and social challenges that international students encounter in the US as well as findings from her own work on "neo-racism," discrimination against "foreigners" and the effects of such mistreatment on the future of international education. The webinar will also include suggested practices to improve international student success and implications for future recruitment.

Presenter:   Jenny Lee, Ph.D., Associate Professor Center for the Study of Higher Education, University of Arizona

Dr. Jenny J. Lee is an associate professor of higher education at the University of Arizona. She has researched a range of organizational and student issues in US higher education and abroad. Dr. Lee has authored over 40 publications in these areas and her work has appeared in the top journals in the field. She is most widely known for her extensive studies on international student populations and their experiences in the US, Korea, and Mexico. She has served as an honorary visiting scholar in London and Seoul and serves on a numerous international projects and scholarly boards.
