Event Description
David Schalkwyk, director of research at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC and Professor of English at the Univesity of Cape Town, will talk on "Desire or love in Shakespeare?" Dr Schalkwyk is the current editor of Shakespeare Quarterly and his publications include Speech and performance in Shakespeare's plays and sonnets (Cambridge, 2002), Literature and the Touch of the Real (University of Delaware Press, 2004),Shakespeare, love and service (Cambridge, 2008) and Hamlet's dreams: the Robben Island Shakespeare (Continuum, 2013).
