Technology, Design & Creativity - ATLAS Speaker Series
Start Date: 2/13/2012Start Time: 5:00 PM
End Date: 2/13/2012End Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description
The ATLAS Speaker Series presents:
Applied Technology, Design and Creativity
(or, let’s talk about building really cool stuff!)

A talk presented by Mark Gross, professor of computational design, School of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University and former CU faculty member.

5 p.m. this Monday, Feb. 13, University of Colorado Boulder, ATLAS Institute, Cofrin Auditorium, Room 100; enter from lobby.

Free and open to the public.

Given the Maker Movement, 3D printers and affordable easy-to-use microelectronics, there’s a new interest in making things and hence, designing.

Mark Gross will discuss issues of design, creativity and engineering with examples from his diverse career, including work done as a co-founder of Boulder startup Modular Robotics.

He teaches computational design at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Architecture, where he also directs the interdisciplinary Computational Design Lab. The Lab investigates the roles that computing and information technologies play in the design of our physical and built environment. http://code.arc.cmu.edu/

Gross holds a B.S. in architectural design and a Ph.D. in design theory and methods, both from MIT. Prior to teaching at Carnegie Mellon, he co-directed the Design Machine Group in Seattle, WA.

The ATLAS Speaker Series is made possible by a generous donation by Idit Harel Caperton and Anat Harel.
