John Legend: An Evening of Discussion and Music

Event Description:

John Legend, nine-time Grammy Award winner, multi-talented artist, and public education activist will speak and perform on Monday, Feb. 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Macky Auditorium. This event is being co-presented by the Distinguished Speakers Board and the Cultural Events Board.

Mr. Legend will speak about issues surrounding the public education system and his work with organizations such as Teach for America, Stand for Children, and the Harlem Village Academies. The lecture portion of the event will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience and a solo performance. 

CU-Boulder students can purchase tickets for $5.00 at the DSB/CEB table, located on the first floor of the University Memorial Center, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday. General public tickets can be purchases online for $25.00 at http://macky.colorado.edu.

John Legend is a musician and activist, known for his signature vocals and songwriting style. He was gained a legion of worldwide fans with a string of top 10, platinum-selling albums. His albums, Get Lifted, Once Again, and Evolver each reached #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop charts. He has also collaborated and written songs with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Lauryn Hill, Alciia Keys, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. Mr. Legend is also the national spokesperson for Management Leadership for Tomorrow, a non-profit organization that assists the next generation of minority business leaders. He has also recently been named on of Time magazines’ 100 most influential people.

CU-Boulder students can purchase tickets for $5 at the DSB/CEB table, located on the first floor of the University Memorial Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The public can purchase general community tickets for $25 online at http://macky.colorado.edu/.
