Event Description Archaeologist Klaus Koschmieder has been conducting a multi-year survey of the area bordered by the Utcubamba and Jucusbamba rivers in the Luya Province of the department of Amazonas in northern Peru. The results of the bioarchaeological analysis of human skeletal remains recovered from these sites offer insight into the general health problems faced by the populations inhabiting this area through time. The focus of this presentation will be to present some of the more interesting results obtained over the course of four field seasons and discuss the implications of these results for our understanding of the cultures that lived in this area of Peru. |
