Event Description Dr. Kent A. Stevens a University of Oregon professor of computer science is a master at using three-dimensional computer graphics as a tool for visualization and exploration. He has pioneered application of computer graphics to the modeling of articulated dinosaur skeletons. In collaboration with paleontologists, he provides insight into dinosaurs by creating virtual reconstructions of their skeletons Dr. Stevens will share his fascination with the four-legged, herbivorous Sauropods, the biggest animals to ever live and how computers help resolve some of the questions regarding how Sauropods lived and moved. By combining these methodologies, Dr. Stevens and his collaborators are attempting to dispel some of the mythology surrounding the Sauropods. This event is free and will be held in the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History Paleontology Hall. |
