Event Description Bach and After
Join David Korevaar for a program celebrating the release of his new CD of Bach's Six Partitas. The program will include the first two Partitas along with works by Brahms and Franck that showcase Bach's influence on the Romantic repertory. Brahms's most virtuosic work, the Paganini Variations are written in a style that combines the academic precision and controlled gestures of Bach's Goldberg Variations with a thorough grounding in Romantic piano technique. Franck's Prelude, Chorale and Fugue presents a masterful synthesis of Bachian form in the chromatic musical language of the late nineteenth century.
